For absolutely no reason other than I was looking something up in it, I decided to scan the pub pages from the directory and upload them.

 

Co-vid times of boredom maybe??!!??

Hmm, interesting.  I looked up the Wagon & Horses, Millhouses which would have been my "local" if I had have been older when I lived there.  I see that for nearly all the other pubs they are listed as <pub name>, <landlord>, <address> but for the W&H it says "Wagon & Horses (Wm. Timperley mngr.), Abeydale rd. south, Mil., S".  The only other parenthesised entry, that I spotted, is for the "Wharncliffe Hotel, (Harry Hutton, propr.)"  Obviously manager and proprietor respectively.  Were managed pubs rare at that time?  Was Harry Hutton only the owner and not the licencee?
