Sheffield History
Ok so here is the scene where our Full Monty stripper heroes head around Sheffield putting up posters advertising their Full Monty show but eveb a scene as simple as this contains some real movie magic! Let me explain. Keep reading below...
Sheffield History
First of all let's have a look at where the posters appeared around Sheffield The first poster we see is this one stuck to a postbox The postbox (no longer there) stood on the opposite corner from the same Jobcentre we saw earlier in the Full Monty movie! Am proud of this spot - it took a while but I knew I recognised it and amazingly I got it right!
Sheffield History
This one I had to get help with and finally sussed out exactly where it was (remember - it could be anywhere in or around the city of Sheffield) What made it harder is that nothing in this shot is the same as it used to be! The whole thing has totally changed The sign used to stand quietly behind a bus stop on Spital Hill as you can see in the images above, but then things changed including the posterboard being moved and changed

Sheffield History
Ok - Movie Magic time This one just shows how you can't believe a thing you see in the movies! In this scene the lads are putting posters up outside a club. A couple of ladies come down the hill and chat to them. The thing is the road you see the ladies walk down and where they stand chatting is miles and miles away from the club that the lads are putting the poster up at! Not only that but Gaz (Robert Carlisle) steps out of the shot of the club and appears to be simply in the same place as the ladies at the bottom of the hill - but again this is miles away! I'll be honest this one took so long to work out what was going on and where the two shots were/are! Here we go.. get ready to have your minds blown! Read on below... Sheffield History
\ First of all let's tackle where the building is that the lads stick the poster on the wall and then stand chatting It was actually filmed outside the Empire on Thickley Bank in Shirebrook which isn't even in Sheffield! Sheffield History
So all the above were shot outside the Empire on Thickley Bank So far so good But what about the ladies coming down the hill that they chat with? Surely they're just outside the Empire too? Nope! Read on!
Sheffield History
So in this scene it cuts between a shot of the lads outside the club chatting to the ladies about the upcoming Full Monty show But in real life the street you can see in these shots weren't anywhere near the club where the boys are stood and is in fact Hyacinth Road at Wincobank in Sheffield just a few hundred feet from the Working Mans Club that the Full Monty show was filmed! The images I've put of Hyacinth Road is after the whole place was redeveloped So in the film it's easy to get tricked into thinking the ladies are just chatting away to the boys outside the club but the reality is very different Movie magic!
