Nothing to do with Druids and not a great deal of mystery about it either. Built in the 19th C as a folly by a wealthy landowner, he used the labour of the local unemployed to have it built, paying them just 1/- a day. Probably so he and his pals could run around in bedsheets playing druids, as they had nothing better to do? 😁
 

Nice walking around there though....
