lysandernovo
Between 1950 and 1953 around half a dozen class A3s were shedded in Leicester and, as a result, were "regulars" on the South Yorkshireman and Master Cutler trains into Sheffield Victoria. As a keen "train spotter" and with a Grandad who was a driver and based at Darnall, I not only " footplated" 60103 but , in the happy years before health and safety became something of a national curse and armed with a handful of cotton waste drove it down a long siding and back into the shed. Not many 11 year olds could claim that....although ,secretly, it was a little frightening since I was" used" to GCR controls ...having driven a couple of ROD's before and GN's were somewhat .,,,different!😑
