Junction of Norton Lees Lane and Derbyshire Lane, looking east.  This map even shows the lamp post.

Walked past there just the other day. Noticed the lovely cottage wedged in between the pub and an industrial unit.

Thats brilliant, thanks Edmund. I understand the word 'Lee' comes from the word 'Leah' meaning a clearing or meadow.

Great photos thanks.

Now trying to place the stone cottages that still stand, with the above photos...

Everything left of the long cottage (Blue) has gone. Cottage at rear (Green) is now Williams builders, but with chimney stacks reduced. Cottages scrubbed out in red are where new Cross Scythes entrance, frontage and car park are now..... I’ve had my crayons out 😁👍

Many thanks. Nice that some of the buildings still exist.

Yes it is and it’s still there as a private house, much the same, but without that single-storey frontage.

That whole areas of Maugerhay would have looked beautiful, there were the cottages of Norton Green opposite, that were pulled down for the new estate, and of course the school that Francis Chantry went to as a boy.

I'd say not the chimneys are in the correct alignment for a backyard view of Chantrey's birthplace.

Chantry Cottage was originally three cottages in Elizabethan times and dates back to 1660

Anyone know where the wishing well is/was in Graves Park? This is supposed to be a photo of the paths by the wishing well..
