The Leppings Stepping Stones at Hillsborough

The Leppings stepping stones and ford were the original ancient crossing of the Don, situated approximately where the corner of Hillsborough kop is closest to the river.
 

They were replaced by a bridge which was named Wadsley Bridge. This is the bridge from which the current area, situated slightly further north, gets its name. The  railway bridge came later.
