It is indeed Norfolk Street, looking down towards Fitzalan Square. The road off to the right is Arnudel Street.

That fine building is gone, of course, replaced by The Crucible.

No, the Adelphi Hotel was off to the right of this picture, at the junction of Arundel Street and Sycamore Street, marked as Hotel on the map extract above.

This Picture Sheffield image shows this clearly, although by this time Arundel Street had been renamed Tudor Way.
