The video opens up with a close up of famous actor Paddy Consedine walking past Red Tape studios on Shoreham Street.

Little does Paddy know what's going to happen over the coming three and a half minutes if is stops to pick up the shoe thrown from the roof in a sec...

A bit of camera magic here as it looks very much like our actress is staring straight down to the road hundreds of feet below her.

In reality she's right up on the top roof of the building in our picture on Shoreham Street looking just a few feet down onto the other part of the roof below her.

This should put your mind at rest if you'd watched the video and wondered how much the actress had put herself in potential danger looking over the edge!

Anyway if we take a look at the still from the video of her on the roof you can see all kinds of Sheffield in the background from The Silver Blades, to the world famous Leadmill nightclub and music venue in the bottom right hand corner.. have a look and see what else you can see...

Back down on Shoreham Street with Paddy Consedine and he's nearing the steps that go between Shoreham Street and Brown Street still unaware of the coming storm (and shoe)

As Paddy spots the shoe that drops right down in front of him he takes a look up to the roof and behind him we can see Shoreham Street

On the right is just past Red Tape studios is Sheffield Archives and across the road on the left is the Archways residential building

Next up we thought we'd include this shot as it's an interesting one from a director point of view as they include a rooftop shot but this time they reverse is (so as you can see The Leadmill is now on the bottom left etc)
Strange choice to reverse the shot and leave it in the finished music video but hey..

A great shot this.

Again we're up on the roof after cutting away to Paddy Consedine running full pelt up the staircase to get to the lady and prevent her jumping off the building.

Paddy's arm extended so we are instantly aware of what his intent is.

Same things in the background, the Silver Blades ice rink, the Leadmill nightclub, and the undertakers building on the left hand side and more

The next shot cuts to Paddy trying to talk her down

In the background we can see Park Hill Flats up on the hill, with Sheffield train station down below and under construction is the new area outside the railway station.

Having talked the lady down from the building Paddy and the actress head for a cup of tea in a cafe.

The cafe in question is a bit further out of town up London Road.

Now if we go back in time to 2008 this cafe had already turned into a pizza shop. I'm assuming it was a cafe before that?

Across the road on the other side of London Road you can clearly see the Mind charity shop, and Sandwich Chez sandwich shop.

Looking out of the cafe window (which has neon burger sign hanging down) you can see through across London Road and can clearly see The Cremorne pub.

Paddy's had a nice cup of tea with the lady he saved, and has said his goodbye's to her and sets off on his way, again not knowing what's to come.

We are still filming in the London Road area, and this time we are in Keeton's Hill which runs off London Road right opposite The Old Crown Inn pub which you can just about glimpse in the official video still above if you check the very right hand side of the screen.

By 2008 the building Paddy was walking past had been totally demolished. Flat as a pancake.. (it's now a brand new office building)

Not a lot to show on this one as the building's gone!

Again we are on Keeton's Hill off London Road

I've put a more recent shot of the street to show you the new building there now

We are back on London Road now

It's starting to become clear that all is not what it seems with this lady and Paddy is starting to resist her charms..

In the video still you can clearly see London Road's shops and pubs including Lahore Kebab House over on the right of the street and even Barrys Bar pub on the left hand side of the street

Above Paddy on left side of the shot is a John Smiths pub sign. This was the Tramway Pub (now long gone and demolished)

Paddy's gone and the lady's back on her own. God knows what's going through her head right now but have a feeling it's not good.

Anyway - we're still on London Road, right on the corner of London Road and Keeton's Hill.

She's stood on the corner outside the Barlav Group (interior contracting design and bespoke joinery)

Across on the other side (green windows) is Nano Grill Bar and takeaway.

This one took a bit of detective work

We have a feeling it was London Road again so checked out all over but couldn't match the images up until we went back to the previous filming location at the corner of London Road and Keeton's Hill, spun the camera round and there it was. Different shops though so could easily have passed it by (we did a couple of times) but let me explain how we confirmed it was definitely the place..

If you take a look at the extreme right of the music video still you'll see Paddy is about to turn left into a road where you can just see a house across the road, with a distinctive roof, and an air conditioning unit stuck out of it. That perfectly matches with our spotted location so we're 100% confident this is a match!

Paddy's heading home. The lady is nowhere to be seen.

This location is further down London Road on Club Garden Walk.

If you followed his actual route shown in the music video it would make no sense! Plenty of movie magic going on here to create his route.

This one is an easy find as we can see it's straight opposite Harrison Cameras on London Road. Not the current Harrison Camera shop just down the road and across the street, but the old one that is now long gone.

As you can see the wall on Club Garden Wall is regularly painted, graffiti'd and regularly painted over

The lady in our story has decided she's going after Paddy. Nothing good can come from that surely?

Anyway in this shot she's seen about to cross London Road

She would have been stood right outside Nano Grill Bar on the right hand side of London Road looking up at businesses such as William Hill bookmakers, Zeugma Turkish Restaurant, and Direct Computers.

She's on the hunt for Paddy now in a big way and is turning off London Road and down the side streets and alleys looking for him.

The filming location for this one again make no sense from a route point of view but looks ok for the story as nobody would really notice that these places don't lead to each other!

We're further down London Road now, right next to Harrison Camera's new store, opposite Lahore Kebab House and The Barrel Inn Pub.

This is a small pathway that leads right up the side of Harrison Cameras.

Amazingly this next shot directly followed on accidentally from the last in terms of where they actually filmed this part of the Arctic Monkeys music video

Paddy is filmed walking up Club Garden Walk - behind all the businesses and shops on London Road

If he had carried on straight up this path he'd have come out right at our last film location!

Confrontation time and Paddy is still on Club Garden Road just on the back of London Road

It's changed a bit so can't get the exact spot but this is around the place he'd have been when the Arctic Monkeys video was filmed

After the confrontation scene the lady runs off from Paddy and makes her way along London Road until she hits the next film location which is shot from inside the cafe they were in before on the corner of London Road and Grosvenor Square.

She runs up Grosvenor Square. In the video she's heading back to the building seen at the start of the video near the Leadmill. So she's running in the wrong direction

Anyway - this film location is London Road / Grosvenor Square where you can see Eylen Supermarket in the background along with the red signage of Dim Sum restaurant in the background

Our final scenes see the lady back up on the roof stood on the edge looking straight down

Along walks a stranger dressed in a yellow t-shirt with Bang Bang on it.

You get ten bonus points if you recognise who this is (post below if you think you know)

Location is Shoreham Street again outside Red Tape Studios.

That's it for this Arctic Monkeys film location topic!

I really hope you enjoyed this. We definitely had fun hunting down the locations!

Let us know below if there are any other videos or films you'd like us to cover and we'll do our best to do them!
