makapaka
that’s how I remember it as a kid. I used to love the bus station when I was a kid I was fascinated by it. We lived off jenkin road and we had one bus on our road every hour that took us up there - otherwise it was a bus to bottom of hill and walk up. Neither me mam or dad drove and I remember us all running through there with me dad carrying my younger brother to catch it. As a kid I also loved how’d you go out somewhere for the day and then walk to some corner of the station where your bus started and see people you knew waiting there. daft I suppose but just how I remember it. Sheffield History
Pond Street Bus Station in 1947 - Sheffield City Centre Really interesting for those of us not old and wise enough to remember the buildings on the right hand side that were replaced by the likes of Cinecentre, The Fiesta, The Top Rank Club etc
Voldy
What a great variety of utility bodied buses delivered during the war years, AEC, Guy and Daimler in Grey livery then. You can identify them as they did not have separate route number indicators. The 3rd from the right hand side of the picture, a Guy, has the Manchester style body. The background now is dominated by the 'Polytechnic' building.
