I would say a little later, 1994 I would guess. This was phase 8 of the project, and the service didn't start until October 1995.

Is that a National Lottery sign on the left? If so the first draw was in November 1994.

Good point. Looking at the track slab it appears the rails are already laid in, so I guess we are looking at April - May 1995, looks pretty warm judging by the clothes people are wearing.

If I had access to the original scheme files I had when I worked for the council I could give you a more accurate date, but they were all destroyed when Amey moved in!

I was manager of the Safeway supermarket in the Hillsborough precinct when the Supertram tracks were being laid. The store closed around Easter 1995 and the first National lottery draw was in November 1994 so the picture could have been 94 or 95.
