Mystery Cutlery Item

I have acquitted this mystery item , made around 1906 , the Ferrule is hallmarked by the Yates brothers, not in any catalogues , any ideas ?

Interesting item doog. Probably miles off but I will kick of with a first guess, perhaps some kind of fancy serving fork.  It looks a good quality item, what is the handle made of please?

Given the top of it looks like a sycamore seed ( we used to call them helicopters as kids), maybe it has a symbolic use, rather than a practical one?

I think it is more likely made to resemble maple seeds, which do have culinary uses.
