How has this relic survived

I spotted this old bell pull a couple of weeks ago on Broomhall Street but I didn't have my camera with me, so yesterday after taking a few photos of Broom Hall and its Sun-Dial I took this photo of the bell pull but I didn't get the number of the property. I think Broomhall Street spread from West Street and up to Broomhall Road, so I'm guessing the house in question was built around 1840 give or take a year, which makes the bell pull around 178 years old, which is pretty good really. There could be more around the city but I haven't seen them, up towards Broomhall Park and beyond its the bell push that reigns, I have two another  bell pulls one in Ridgway on the same door is a informative sign stating the Air Raid warden lived there.  Theres one like the Broomhall Street one on Bankers House in Hartshead but in better condition and probably older,

Bankers House in Hartshead

* Old Bank House

Was offices of Fuller Peiser in 70s/80s/90s, not sure if they're still there.
