boginspro
From what I can see this advertisement only infers that this is Sheffield made c1895 and the rhetoric on the page is interesting. Observations on this would be interesting please? ----------- https://www.nugentappraisal.com/multi-blade-exhibition-knife-english-circa-1895/
Organgrinder
Don't know if this is the same knife but there used to be one similar, on display in the old Norfolk Market hall in the forties and early fifties. At that time, a new blade was added every year and it often got a write up in the Sheffield Star from time to time. Those were the days when Sheffield was a great and very important city with industry which led the world in so many ways.

I think the knife in the Norfolk Market Hall was the Year Knife by Joseph Rodgers and Sons, the same firm produced the Norfolk Knife, (they don't make them like that anymore). Pictures of those are available on Picture Sheffield, here are a couple of them -------- http://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s10101&pos=3&action=zoom&id=13186 ---------------- http://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s10107&pos=3&action=zoom&id=13192
tozzin
The pearl scales showing Bavarian hunting scenes, were carved by the best pearl carver in Sheffield Charles Levesley for which he was paid a whopping £900, over £5,000 in today's money but look at the workmanship.
Ponytail
The Norfolk Knife, or Sheffield Year Knife. This leaflet was produced 1990, since then the Knife is displayed at the Cutlers Hall, Church Street the home of Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. https://cutlers-hallamshire.org.uk
MartinR
Fascinating. But as it only has space for 2,000 blades, what has happened over the last 22 years?
