RLongden Posted October 7, 2018 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I’ve only just found out that Alan Rowles has recently passed away. Alan was a local historian, photographer and author of numerous publications of interest, including “Winding Up - A History of Birley East Colliery”. Alan was the source of numerous reference information on this site and was very active in current local issues, as well as local history. He was also my woodwork teacher at Beaver Hill Secondary School in the 70’s and a family friend. I’m not sure if others on this forum were better acquainted with Alan, but thought it important to share the news of his passing. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
