Gamal
Looking at it now you wouldn't think it's the same place.
THYLACINE
1972. That's how I remember it. It's burned on my memory.
Thorntons girl
What year was this? I remember the Goodwin fountain but it was when Fargate was pedestrianised. It is a lovely photo, the times when the sun always shined in Sheffield! Thanks for sharing.
Heartshome
I agree with Thorntons girl that it is a lovely photo of the fountain and island. This was one of the most photographed town center attractions at the time, especially in summer, loads of visitors could be seen stood around the pavements, trying to get a good view point. When it was planted up with the vibrant coloured flowers it was fab during the day. Then at night, with it's alternating coloured lights reflecting in the water, it was quite a stunning attraction. Gamal
The end of this youtube video there's a glimpse of the Goodwin fountain. Apologies if it's been shared before.
