No scaffolding for working at hight in those days! no one to foot the ladder for the workman supplying the roofer with slate's, and the roofer putting a lot of trust in the wooden gutter to support his slate ladder. That's a good picture of The Derby, I spent a while looking for a picture of that pub for another post but never found that one. That picture brings back some good memories, thank you.
