Stunmon
Who remembers the pop man coming round their street. Did they come in the 50s or was it much later?

Stunmon
Does anyone remember the names? I seem to think there was one at Ecclesfield?
RLongden
Barr’s was on the Dore House estate, by the old Asda. But I think it was only a warehouse, rather than a manufacturing site. Alpine I remember as a brand, but not sure where from? Larkspur was also a brand of pop, but did that come from the milkman?
lysander
I seem to remember we had Hagues ( owned by the father of a past Tory Party leader!}
Colinsfoot
Yes in the 50's we had a man come round in a lorry and we would get a stone flagon of Ginger Beer. It held about a gallon and had a cork bung and was returnable...it was delicious, very sharp and gingery so it would burn the back of your throat if you drank it too fast.

I remember exactly that in the '50s. It was at Bower Road, Walkley. We had the flagon of ginger beer as a special treat on occasions . I can't remember my dad buying anything else.
