peterinfrance
I am told this is a picture of the staff at Rowlinson School in the 1950's. Although I went to Rowlinson it is just before my time there. Can anyone confirm that it is Rowlinson staff and if so identify them
Leipzig
Hi peterinfrance This looks like a picture of the staff during the early days of Rowlinson Secondary School, the official opening of which took place on 18 April 1953 as a mixed boys and girls school. I believe it became a boys only school in about 1957 when the girls left for the new all girls grammar school of King Ecgbert in 1957. Like you, the photo is a little before the time I attended there, but I recognise Charles Vincent Kay who was the headmaster in the centre front row. Sat next to him is Cyril Askham the deputy head. Second from the right on the front row is Mr Rutherford. Fourth from the left on the back row is Jack Hastwell. I think but am not sure that on the extreme left, middle row is Bill Oxley.
