NEW TOWNS FOR OLD (1942)

Another interesting short film from the Yorkshire Film Archive:

Commissioned by the Ministry of Information and scripted by Dylan Thomas, this film addressed the need for town planning in Sheffield in the post-war world.  It features two men who discuss pre-war slum clearance and town planning.

Some familiar sights, which I think opens with the two men overlooking the Don Valley and Canal Basin, immediately above the Durham Ox? Other recognisable sights of the city and surrounding areas, including a shot of the top of East Bank Road, when they are talking about building new housing to replace the old slums.

It looks like Broad Street (looking towards the city centre) at 35 seconds.

Possibly Duke Street or City Road at 2 mins 46 secs.

At 2:53 could that be shot through the ruins of the Marples?
