Have a look at this shot of Sheffield Town Hall under construction


Anyone got any more?

I've got one before it was built....The Jubilee monument was moved to Endcliffe Park in 1905. The Town Hall opened in 1897.

They knew how to build buildings then for themselves! That's the dogs bodies that worked inside it. The rest of the city, for the people they represented, lived in run down dwellings or poorly made ones, that you won't be able to take pictures of today!

I think you can just see the start of construction of the Town Hall on the left of this photo.

I have heard the account of Queen Victoria isn't exactly true as she never got out of her carriage. Perhaps we will never know.
