Snow in Sheffield - where is this?

Crookes, the tracks to the right go up Pickmere Road to the tram sheds. Also School Road to the right which was shown on destination blinds, a terminus for short runners.

Surely can't be Sheffield!

Council has actually cleared the roads of snow! :o

Pickmere Road is still there, but I think that direct access from Crookes is now blocked off, and of course, the tram-sheds are long gone.

The Tramways Department had snowploughs which concentrated on the tramlines.  The Highways Department then followed up - in 1922 they had 40 lorries, 12 horse scrapers, 3 machine brushes, several horse brushes, and up to 800 men, supplemented by men on "relief work".

As far as Sheffield is concerned the public transport routes are always cleared. It's just the side roads that never see any grit. This picture doesn't seem to show any difference.
