LeadFarmer
Theres currently an old postcard for sale on eBay showing old crosses of Sheffield. Go me wondering what these crosses represented, and where they might be now. There must be lots more old crosses in Sheffield that have disappeared.

Several crosses in Sheffield survived the Reformation, including the Market Cross, Irish Cross and Townhead Cross, but all are now lost.
LeadFarmer
Sheffield Markets History Between 1499 and 1786, Sheffield had a Market Cross which stood at the top of what is now Angel Street. The cross marked an area where farmers’ wives sold eggs, butter and grain from baskets. An Irish cross stood at the top of Snig Hill, and was probably where people from outside Sheffield were allowed to sell their goods.

Peter Hukins
Just typed in Sheffield's market cross pictures and it came up with Woodhouse which became part of Sheffield in 1921 , is this the only physical cross left in Sheffield .
