Sheffield History
Herries Road was thought such an accomplishment at the time that the city of Sheffield had the Duchess Of Norfolk to open it! Here's a photo showing the brand new road as it was opened Classed then as a 'highway', Herries Road was a new way of getting from the neighbourhood of Owlerton up to Pitsmoor and was officially opened by the Duchess Of Norfolk Make of that what you will. Strange fact eh?
LeadFarmer
Unless I'm mistaken, that looks like the view looking up Herries Rd from Penistone Rd. Theres a very distinctive curve in the road leading the the arched bridge. Nowadays the road is quite straight. Or could it be a view looking down Herries Rd, as I can't see the old cottage building thats just next to the bridge, that still stands there today. Voldy
The view is looking in a South Westerly direction, Oxspring Dam on the righthand side, towards the Wednesday ground.
