Remember Hobbies, near to the brass measures that were mounted on the wall round the Peace Gardens

I used to spend hours in Hobbies, buying balsa wood etc to make models,,they moved to west bar, don't know if they still exist

The shop on Shalesmoor closed a few years ago. I seem to remember there was a shop that sold aeromodelling stuff at the bottom of Cemetery Road, just round the corner from the roundabout and near the bus stop, that was in the early '60's.

I am not sure that the Hobbies shop at Shalesmoor was a part of the national Hobbies  chain of shops...whose catalogue had me drooling for years, around Christmas  time. Sat on the  settee hinting how  a super fret saw set would be wonderful...Alas, my Santa never could find anything other than the green painted very basic model.
