Sheffield History
Here's a challenge for you It might come straight away to some people but for many readers they may struggle. Can you tell us where this is/was? Such a grand place by the looks of it - do you know it?
neal m
Can't decide whether it's a restaurant, a shop, or a hotel. But I'll take a stab at a restaurant and guess Tuckwoods?
lysander
I doubt it's a restaurant as there are what appear to be headless mannequins on the top right hand side...on the other hand, it looks like Godley Gardens gone mad.
neal m
The mannequins are what made me wonder about a shop. But there doesn't seem to be anything for sale! That said, I've only been able to look at this photo on my phone, and the detail is terrible, but there seem to be tables off to the side on the ground floor which is what made me wonder about a restaurant. The only restaurant I knew that was around for a long time was Tuckwoods, so I thought I'd stab at that. But I'm guessing I'm wrong. It beats me. lysander
I doubt there's too many of us on here who can remember Atkinson's before the night of the Blitz...all I can recall is a hole in the ground.
