No kitchen is complete without those three items in it, i always make sure there are Mushy Peas and Henderson's Relish in the cupboard and Pies in the Freezer. No, the bubble and sqeak I know was/is fried up vegetables, usually those what remained from the Sunday dinner, and was normally eaten on a Monday, served along with any cold meat that remained from the Sunday roast, my dad used to have piccalilli with it. My dad did a poor man's version of that - no marmite And Steve - I still sometimes do extra veg and potatoes for a bubble & squeak on Monday. Piccalilli on bubble and squeak sounds delicious too My Grandad used to make a mean meat and potato pie, he would have the meat and veg on the boil for a whole day, make his own pastry and then into the oven.
