lysander
I recall that during the late 1960's/early 1970's the Council adopted a very anti-military policy. This stopped the armed forces having any presence at Sheffield Show and, I believe, extended to any parades in the City centre. Can anyone tell me in which year this policy started? EmmaJNation
I can't say exactly, but I believe it was later, in the early 80s - I can remember still seeing military displays at the Sheffield Show when I was old enough to go to Hillsborough Park by myself into the mid/late 70s
lysander
Thanks for that, Emma. I can also remember displays....I believe the decision was taken and then rescinded a few years later after protests.
