Sheffield History Posted November 15, 2016 Share Posted November 15, 2016 Need help here with this Sheffield location The place in question in Sheffield city centre is Pond Hill Bridge (pictured above) What do you know about this place, what buildings were around it, and what can you tell us about this bridge? ayfer Posted November 15, 2016 Share Posted November 15, 2016 That fits with the 1903 and 1923 maps that I have. This is my take on it. The people on the bridge on the bottom of Pond Hill are looking towards the weir that was alongside Sheaf island Works. The road across the picture, from left to right, is Sheaf Street. The road at the top of the ramp is Granville Street (again from left to right). The Sun Inn is on the corner of Gilbert Street which led up to Duke Street and South Street.
