The Palace, Crookes Road, opened in 1912. Its sister cinema was the Western Picture Palace. The capacity was around 800 and the raised area at the rear was only about 3 feet higher than the stalls but was grandly called the balcony. I attended the last film shown, Babette goes to War, starring Bridget Bardot. The year was 1960.
