At a meeting of the Sheffield Association for the Better Housing of the Poor, on Tuesday 8th October 1889, Canon Walshaw stated "With regard to erecting buildings, he did not think the Peabody Buildings were a success.  Poor people did not like to dwell in barracks or workhouses" .  The Peabody Buildings were labourers' block  dwellings in London, though Canon Walshaw was a local cleric, so presumably his reference was local,

There was an area of housing somewhere at Gleadless/Hollinsend known as the 'barracks'. I think they were poor housing associated with the nearby coal mines.

I suspect you won't find any poor housing on a map specifically named '(insert name) Barracks'.  The term barrack-like more often referred to how self-contained, or not, the accommodation was, specifically in terms of shared plumbing arrangements - toilets, wash houses, laundry rooms etc.

The Peabody website has an interesting history of the development of their sites

Could not help but notice this while browsing maps for the 'Bachelor and Widow's Row' topic.
