THYLACINE
So sad to hear Alan Hodgkinson passed away this week. 674 games for the blades and 5 England caps. A legend at the Lane, gone but never forgotten.
Athy
A name I remember well, even though I followed the Other Lot during my boyhood in Sheffield. He was a loyal one-club man during his long career, which is quite a rarity. R.I.P.
johnm
I seem to recall Alan was also a cricketer. My dad was in Wombwell Cricket Lovers & I think Alan played in their Annual Single Wicket competition.
BenBeau
Hodgy used to play cricket at Frechevile Community Cricket Club's annual match v Sheffield United. I can also remember Colin? Brewster and Gerry Summers playing. I think Gerry made 96 in one of the games. Attached are 2 pictures taken by me of Alan and another of Derek Pace at one of these games in the mid 60s. I watched United as a schoolboy - with the defence usually: Hodgkinson, Coldwell, Shaw G., Richardson, Shaw J., Summers. Oh Happy Days.
