I recall seeing part of this film in the visitors center at Rother Valley, that was shortly after it opened.

Thanks steve, been cycling round there today and along the tpt to chesterfield. Always wondered what Rother valley looked like when they were open cast mining.

So is the water as deep as the coal seam extracted ? if so wow that's deep.

Thank you very much for sharing - very interesting indeed.

Of course, it did not all go strictly according to plan!

The workings flooded quite badly in 1977, and as you can see from the attached image, the coal authority were caught a little unawares.
