Guest John Bray
I am chasing any information on my great grandmother. Her name was Phoebe Price and had a shop at 41 Jessell Steet in Attercliffe. This was where she had the shop in the 1911 census. I would like to know how ongoing she had it for and what sort of shop it was.
dr stanley
Hi John ....... Can't help with 1911 but if you take a look at the Picture Sheffield website (link below) there are a couple of picture of the shop from the 1960's when it was a ladies hairdresser when it went by the exotic name (for Attercliffe anyway) of "Jacques Pierre". My aunt who died last year at the grand age of 99 lived most of her life just around the corner in Cottingham Street. http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s21059&pos=8&action=zoom&id=23555
