SteveHB
Remains of Don Saw Works, I think? Circa 1905. Link to Flash Earth
vox
It's one of these here below. I haven't worked out exactly which one yet. OS map #
RLongden
As you'd imagine, it backs right on to the river: http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;c01196&pos=83&action=zoom&id=1702 http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;t03227&pos=88&action=zoom&id=33578 The second photo appears to show a gap where a bridge was, so looking at the map from Vox, my money's on the back of the saw mill, rather than the vinegar brewery? Strange that it's still standing derelict, but it's not exactly prime real estate down there, is it? Well spotted though!

tozzin
Anybody know this building on Saville Street? Isn't this the remains of the Vinegar Brewery? Didn't the Wicker Brewery Hotel No 70 & 72, stand in the gap and the brewery was behind it. I do know that the Hotel was renamed the Hole In The Wall and after it was closed it was picked on by arsonists and was subsequently demolished. Savile House was put up roughly 50 years ago? and the pub stood where the gap is then. If you look at this photo of the pub on the extreme left you can see the name Savile House 74-80. The gate on the right led to the yard of the brewery.
Lemmy117
I believe it is the saw mill and listed. When they put up the new building (Savile House?) they had all sorts of issues regarding possible damage to it, this restricted piling operations among other things.
