Tonight's Who Do You Think You Are brought actress Sheridan Smith to Sheffield researching her Great Grandfather Doubleday. It featured visits to Sheffield Archives, Local Studies and looked at theatre connections connected with Mr Doubleday, who was a banjo playing pioneer. He was also the landlord of an inn on South Street Moor, and was accused but found innocent of trying to burn it down.

If you didn't catch it you might be able to get via the BBC iplayer.

I never knew there was an Albert Hall theatre in Sheffield :)

I know the Albert Hall is now John Lewis (or site of) But where was the Circus building?

I think it all happened in the same building Mike. I remember reading somewhere that the animals used to be lined up in Backfields before they went on.
