Just got this from a friend. Seems right up SheffieldHistory's street...

SHEFFIELD PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

Just a quick word to tell you about our 150th anniversary exhibition which is taking place next week if you are in town with an hour to spare.

The exhibition is being held in Sheffield Cathedral from midday on Monday 7th July until the afternoon of Sunday 13th July. The exhibition will be repeated in the Winter Gardens in November.

It is accessible at all times that the Cathedral is open although we would ask people to be respectful if there is a service taking place.

Sheffield Photographic Society members will be in attendance from 12:00 to 14:00 weekdays and all day on Saturday and Sunday till the exhibition is taken down early afternoon. I will be there on Tuesday and Saturday.

This is a special exhibition to celebrate 150 years of the society. The society was formed in 1864 (the same year as the Sheffield Flood).

The exhibition has the theme of 'Now and Then' with many of the panels depicting a Sheffield scene from long ago alongside a photograph taken recently from the same position by one of our members.
