The building on the right with the dome on top, does anyone know what it was and what went on in there ?

Any idea on when it was built and demolished ?

The building was a bank. The United Counties bank, The Birmingham District and Counties Banking Co. Ltd, I am not sure who ran the bank in more modern times, it might have been the Westminster Bank.

I think it became Barclays - The United COunties Bank was bought by Barclays in 1916.

A nice view of the United Counties building on an old postcard:

Of note are the mis-spelling of the road name and the tram tracks leading into the western side of Fitzalan Square (was this called Market Street at the time?) which were never completed.

Part of the Fitzalan Market Hall is in shot as well

Demolished for road widening! How much has it really been widened, you can't tell.

Council should hang theirs heads in shame.
