Could what is now Lynne's Warehouse on West Bar be the old Clockmakers Arms, the building on the right which was the old "Doss House" then Laceys Warehouse is No 120, to the left of Lynne's Warehouse was Wigfalls at No 126/128 and on the corner of West Bar and Bower Spring was Y.D.M. wallpaper and paint suppliers, this was in 1974 Kelly's Directory, I would love that the building is the Clockmakers but I've a sneaking feeling it was demolished.

If you look up West Bar on Picture Sheffield it is on a letter headed paper for W Foster & Sons in 1929. So when was the pub open?

1879 James Ford Beerhouse

1849 Robert Barnes Clockmakers Arms

It could be that the pub was demolished as its named as the Clockmakers Arms in 1849 but by 1879 the address was just a Beerhouse .

Just before 1879 the Corporation spent about £960 to purchase the Clockmaker's Arms to widen Gibraltar street, under the West Bar Improvement Scheme. The Clockmakers was stated to be on the corner of Bower spring so maybe it was a little further along at that time. There is obviously more to the financial aspects that is still unclear as:

Just before that, in 1876, it had been sold as part of the estate of Mr Robert Younge. The building, yard at the back and adjoining retail premises, comprising 370 square yards and 37 and half feet of frontage, it sold for £4,600.

It appears that the Corporation paid owners a sum to demolish all or part of buildings and to purchase the land for the widened roadway. The Little Angel had been dealt with in this manner.

Possibility West Bar was renumbered at some time.
