Sheffield History Icons

Not important in any way at all but I'd like to know why the shortcut icons for SH keep changing on a regular basis.

They alternate randomly between one of these 3

As you can also see, the colour scheme of my desktop changes as well

Quite old, maybe 4 yrs since new HD and processor.

It has just changed from the "none specific" icon to the green one while I've been away from the computer.

Also the Quicklaunch toolbar has changed from blue to grey.

As I said, It doesn't bother me - just like to know why. It doesn't happen to any of the other Icons anywhere on the computer (as far as I can make out)

I'd be concerned why the Quick Launch toolbar is changing colour, does the Taskbar do the same?

Could be a graphics driver problem.

I can't tell you what is causing it, could be hardware or software related,

apart from that, is the PC running as normal or have you noticed any other problems like lag/slow down?

Nothings changed that I've noticed.

Apart from SH's big pictures taking ages to load.

Not related I know, but the 50's maps are almost "off limits" to me now.

Are the big pictures still a problem / inconvenience for other people ?

I've got the black SH icon at the moment. This morning it was the none specific one.

Why are you running browser links like 'SH' from the Quicklaunch toolbar, when that link should be in your 'browser tabs' ?

Ok vox

Now go to bleepingcomputer.com and download 'AdwCleaner'.

Run 'AdwCleaner.exe', and do a 'Scan' when finished DO NOT click on the 'Clean button'.

Click on 'Log Report' and save the file as Text Document, now close the program.

Upload the file on here, as you would a photo.

Report attached as requested.

You need to get shut of anything related to, or containing 'Mysearchdial' - 'mysearchdial' - 'mysearchdial.com'.

Done that Steve. There was a folder in Application Data and another file in Local settings as well as a cookie.

I hope the search found them all.

Now deleted

It all seems to be behaving ok now, but I've recently started getting this "Run As" warning when I start up.

I've just been closing the box without checking anything and all seems to work normally.

I don't want to click the user name because if it asks for a password I'll be in trouble. I've never changed user accounts and wouldn't have a clue as to what the password might be. (or even what user-name I normally use either)

Should I be clicking OK rather than Cancel ?

'Run As' usually appears when more than one user account has been set up/installed on the system

Thanks for replying Steve.

I don't know about that as I didn't set it up in the first place, but it's never happened before. Only 3 or 4 times in the past week.

Should I click OK ? I'm concerned about where it says "selecting it can cause the program to function incorrectly."

Next time the 'Run as' box appears;

Leave the "Run as" dialog open.
Start up Task Manager.
Under "Applications" right click on the Task "Run as".
Select "Go To Process".

This should show you which process is generating the "Run as" dialog.

(To start Task Manager, hold down the Ctrl - Alt & Delete keys on keyboard)

Ignore my post #18, I see it asking you by the look of the current user name (Username : Andy - NEW1)

That'll be it Steve, Garmin Express

I connect my satnav every so often to update the maps.

So do I click ok when it appears, do you think ?

It is probably trying to open in order to tell me there's an update.

Try clicking ok, but if the problem persists uninstall Garmin, then download & re-install it
