Were You A Punk In Sheffield During The 1970S And 1980S?

Hello,

I’m a postgrad student at the University of Sheffield and I’m currently doing some research into punk in Sheffield during the late 1970s and 1980s. More specifically I’m looking into how being a punk affected people on a daily basis and I’d be really interested in conducting some interviews about what life was like being a punk in Sheffield during this time. Ideally I’d like to set up interviews within the next couple of weeks, so whether you (or somebody you know) would be willing to do an interview or just give me some kind of testimony via email then it would be great to hear about your experiences! Please feel free to PM me with any questions and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

Eddie

"Punk... an unfortunate period in popular culture with little to commend it beyond its noise!"

Only ( half) joking!

This is all great stuff, thanks for the tips. I've posted a few things on Sheffield Forum and seem to be getting a fair few replies. Should be interesting to hear what kind of stories people have.
