Unknown Scissor Manufacturer

I have a large pair of scissors with a worn makers mark.

The remnants read ARKES or ARKE& URTON SHEFFIELD.

I've tried unsuccessfully to hunt down the maker from these clues.

Would anyone care to fill in the blanks for me?

It could be a B for Burton or perhaps Warburton.

Managed to get a close up picture to post.

The second line ends above the D in Sheffield so one would imagine that whatever it says would begin over the S in Sheffield. This makes it a longer word than ?urton.

I think we need to find 2 or 3 more letters.

What do you think ?
