A subscription to Ancestry, or a visit to the National Archives in London. (You wont get WW2 records until 2021 I think, unless your next of kin etc)

This might be a good starting point. If you're looking for a family member's service record have a look here, though if you do apply be prepared for a wait of several months before you receive them.

Yeah, was more than aware of that John, in fact I know exactly where to go for them, just thought that the other poster had heard of Goggle. I'm just very weary giving/researching/looking up things that are easy to find.
