I can't tell you how impressed I was with the dvd 'Made In Sheffield'.

It tells the story of the 1970's and 1980's bands that were born, grew and developed in Sheffield, from Pulp to Heaven 17, to the Human League and more.

It's a brilliant watch with loads of images and video clips from the time that are unique and fascinating.

a film by eve wood.

a sheffield vision ltd/slackjaw films ltd production.

made in sheffieldThe best post-punk music in Europe was electronic music & for five years the best electronic music came from Sheffield.

Made in Sheffield documents the evolution of the Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Heaven 17 & ABC, who emerged from Sheffield's music scene in the late 70's. Their dream was to destroy rock music. The result was the creation of some of the most influential sounds in pop music.

Rare archive footage, soundtrack & exclusive interviews with the famous, almost famous & not famous at all pull you directly into the Sheffield music scene complete with fanzines, nightclubs, weird bands, DIY record labels & all the ambition & creativity that made that time so special.

Loaded with endearing moments & humour, it captures the essence of the seldom portrayed aftermath of Punk & the spirit of the early 80's British New Wave movement.

Featuring: Phil Oakey , Joanne Catherall & Susan Sully (Human League), Martyn Ware & Ian Craig Marsh (original members and founders of the Human League & Heaven 17), Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Chris Watson (Cabaret Voltaire), Stephen Singleton (Vice Versa/ABC)

I've just visited the 'made in sheffield' website to find that they are about to launch the second one - and if it's anything like the first it will be well worth buying..

Sheffield Vision have started filming the follow up to Made In Sheffield. Clips will be shown in our SV Exclusives section as we progress in production. Due for release Spring 2007.

This is great news - and we are really excited about this one..
