Hi Sylvia

I have had a look on the 1891 and 1901 and there is one family (John and Catherine Moran, Sheffield) that stands out as being the right one for the details given. I can see that the father changes his name between censuses, which could be confusing, but as his place of birth, wife, children, age and occupation stay the same, I think it would be reasonable to assume it is the same person. To check you would need to obtain Joseph's birth certificate to find his mother's maiden name, which would hopefully be HENRY to fit in with the father-in-law present on the 1901 census.

family as i did, now i'm more than certain it's them

From my posting; the Father in Law in the 1901 Census has a surname of Henry ....

Hi

Yes

John Moran married Catherine Henry in Sheffield 1877

What's more confusing, in the 1881 census John and Catherine along with

Son's Peter, John and Daughter Agnes are living in Norton Derby

but also in 1881 There is Michael Henry living with his own family

and 2 grandson's Peter and John Moran in Pinfold St.

What i am trying to find out is if the John Moran listed as Nephew in the 1901

census is in fact their son, because they did have a son called John bn 1879

Because my Grandad John Moran was supposedly a orphan who was brought up with

Joseph Moran and his family.

thankyou

Sylvia
