May I introduce you to Thomas Frederick John Truss, born in Camberwell in 1869 but in 1914 moved to Wincobank Avenue.

He was the inventor of television - predating Logie-Baird by months. Also the Death Ray, improvements to submarines. ship motors, propellers

He was obviously a very clever man, though the passing of the years tends to turn inventors into sources of great amusement.

I wonder why he chose to leave London and come to Wincobank in 1914.
