Great stuff, love this one particularly.

(Segnore Spelterini)

------------------------------------

SanFransisco Chronical

"For instance, it is possible that "Signor Spelterini will balance on his teeth a living ass at the top of a ladder at the same time holding in each hand a fifty-six pound weight." That might happen tonight. But, on the other hand, maybe the ass is sick, or the weights cannot be found. (In the drawing, the ass does not look happy, although he's positively cheerful next to Signor Spelterini, who seems to be wondering whether he should have gone into his father's dry goods business instead.)

Athenaeum vol 2 1828

====================

The Theatrical observer and, Daily bills of the play (Volume 1829 v.2 no.2356-2512:(Jul 1,1829-Dec 31,1829))

Olympic. — The new Grand Comic Pantomime called ThePolarSlar ;

or, Harlequin^ King of the Golden Mountains, was performed here

last night for the second time to a numerous and delighted audience,

It is rich in scenery, there are some clever tricks, and the Harlequin

andClown, Kirby and Hartland are vastly clever ; in addition to which

Signor Spelterini introduced some astonishing feats of strensth ; and

M. Vesterino some surprising leaps &c, so that altooretlipr we think it

will prove one of the most attractive of this year's Pantomimes.
