I take it you mean the Classic, I thought it showed normal mainstream films The dodgy XXX films were at the Studio 7 in the Wicker There was the CineCentre in the Pond Street Development, now I believe that showed specialised films
Bayleaf
I think you're both right, the Classic for many years showed mainstream films but I seem to remember it having a reputation in later years as a bit sleazy. I never went to the Sheffield one but I remember going to the one in Liverpool when I was at college there in the 60's to see (I think, it was a long time ago) films like Zulu. RichardB
Wonderland in earlier times then Classic then burnt down for the insurance.

mike142sl
That's the one, classic. The original Odeon was across the road as well, now a Mecca Bingo.

Mind you, if someone had asked me I would have said Studio7 and CineCenta as well. Not that either of us ever went there to see such films. DaveH
There was the CineCentre in the Pond Street Development, now I believe that showed specialised films Don't know about specialist films, they had a specialist clientelle. They were all dodgy old blokes in cloth caps and raincoats, - even when it wasn't raining.

Was it called Pathe News at some time, I vaguely recal going there with my Parents and seeing Pathe News.

Lemmy117
The Classic also used to specialise in horror film nights, usually of the low budget type that were more funny than scary!
