RichardB
Drove past 8 hours after it started, still smoking, lots of engines still in attendance. However, much less impressive than when the Ronsons Factory went up. "Fire on Norham Road, Ronsons Factory." "What do they make ?" "Lighter fluid, aerosols of various types; starch fir ironing, deodourants etc." Don't remember any of the firefighting community attending that on the day; just being told to evacuate from my home; the place didn't take a great deal of demolishing afterwards. Almost as bad as a fireworks factory going up - has that ever happened in Sheffield, he asks innocently ... ;-)
Edmund
The Queen pub on Scotland Street was blown up in 1858. Was this the earliest firework factory explosion?
