madannie77
Not quite Sheffield, perhaps, but pretty close. I don't have a date for this document. Front Cover

VicRichardson
Used to love to drive past the place at night when they were pouring, it lit up the whole area.

Lysanderix
As a young man I was responsible for purchasing thousands of tonnes of high carbon steel billets from “Steelos” and ,as a result ,was an invited guest when they opened the UKs first large scale electric melting shop known as SPEAR. It still amazes me that, like so much else ,it’s gone and we now import inferior material from the other side of the world…but it helps reduce our carbon footprint by exporting it to China…I suppose….except for all the pollution caused by the ship bringing it here.😚
Lemmy117
While restoring a 1930' London tram at the Crich Tramway museum, I was interested to see the axles were stamped 'SPT' Rotherham, and the tyres 'Brown Bailey Sheffield'. We needed replacement axles, I believe they came from South Africa! Nigel L
