ukelele lady
Did there used to be a lodging house, hospital or workhouse at 38 Granville Lane? I am researching my family tree and I have found that two members of the family died at this address but I aslo found that there were many others of other families died at this address in the same era. It seemed to house quite a few people at the same time.

ukelele lady
George William Edge of 38 Granville Lane Buried City Road 15 th Feb 1917 Frank Edge of 38 Granville Lane Buried 17th June 1920 Minnie Edge of 38 Granville Lane Buried 9th April 1921 Fred Mason of 38 Granville Road Buried 3rd April 1923 There is another one of another name but I've lost the details. I can only think they were lodgers to the Edges unless they had already moved out. While we're on the subject where was Smilter Lane or is this a mis-spelling? Edmund
Here's a map from 1890. I've estimated where no 38 was by counting along from the junction with Bungay Street on the 1891 census. The houses are all back to backs and start with Court 1 no 1, 2, 3 4, Courts 2 etc up to Court 4 which has nos. 1 and 2 - then the numbering reverts to 6, 8 10 etc - the yellowed in house is probably very close to no.38.
